1. Choose A Quality Brush

A good quality brush ensures a thicker, more consistent and smooth paint finish that improves the durability of your paint job.

  • Good brushes have long ‘tapered’ bristles that are designed to avoid showing brush strokes
  • They have nailed-in, stainless steel ‘ferrules’ that will never rust and will prevent the shedding of bristles
  • And believe it or not, a quality brush can even help improve resistance to algal or fungal damage!

Still not convinced that all brushes aren’t created equal? A good brush also means that -

  • It’s been engineered to hold more paint so you dip into your pot less often – that saves you time
  • It’s handle is more ergonomic so its easier to hold and to use – that saves you effort
  • It’s designed to last.

2. Match The Bristles To The Type Of Paint

  • For latex and water-based/acrylic paints – Use nylon and synthetic bristle brushes.
  • For oil-based paints, enamels, varnishes, shellacs, stains and lacquers – Use natural hog bristle brushes.

3. Select The Right Sized Brush

Using the right sized brush will give you a neater paint finish and better results. The size of the brush you’ll need depends on what you’re painting. So check out the PAL® Brush System below to help determine which brush you’ll need.

Urban® - Paint Brushes Especially Designed For Women

PAL® is proud to introduce the Urban range of brushes, especially designed for women.
Women have told us they find regular paint brushes too large for their hands. And when full of paint, brushes are too heavy to hold, particularly after a long day’s work.

So, PAL® has created a brush range that has—

  • A counter balanced weight system – no more sore wrists
  • A contoured easy grip handle – to fit into your hand comfortably
  • Special synthetic bristles – for easy clean up
  • Tapered bristles – for drag-free painting
  • A range of brush sizes from 12mm-63mm for a variety of tasks.
