The approach to interior design starts at the budget. Establish a budget that is within your means, but firstly go out and do a market survey on how much things cost.

Be honest with yourself and allow at least another 15% for those unknown extras. Having an overall plan for your renovation can mean you can chip away at certain areas and come back to other aspects later to suit your time frame and budget assuring the design is still retained as a whole.
